The Hell with Customer Service or Support

I recently had correspondence with a webhosting .com about my own domain name. What happened was I registered it 3 times and I was informed it was ‘successful’ but when I check my account, it informed me that I have no registered domain yet! So on to CS. THREE of them told me the same thing: I don’t have any registered domain yet. Now of course I’m thinking they’re making me a liar and got suspicious now. I gave another CSR (rep) a last chance and he HINTED, that I might not have completed the registration yet. So repeat again. And that’s just when I saw that adding an order to your ‘cart’ doesn’t mean registration was ‘successful’! And I saw what I need to do to complete it then got it right just before losing my head.

Before this happened, I had experiences with two more .com CSR’s who were really incompetent or total idiots that really got my goat (And I had training about dealing with angry customers ha ha). They asked me to send them my account file which of course they already have since I’m already a member or subscriber and kept asking stupid questions instead of answering mine!

Now this is the lesson I see for me and the company CSR’s. I shouldn’t have assumed that when I saw the word ‘successful’, registration is already over. Their fault: they should have included in their script what else was to be done after the word ‘successful’. Simple blunder isn’t it.

At least that gave me a reason to remember to stay cool when dealing with customer support.

  1. Oh Mak, I didn’t expect that your prob with your new damned PC is that worse.
I can imagine the hell you’re going thru with CSR! lol
Hey, i’m a pack rat too.

  2. Good post! “The devil is in the details,” as they say. On my end, my going ’round and ’round with E-Machines support has ended in their saying that I must send my PC to their Texas service center! This is, of course, what I expected all along, but I had to go through the “reset to factory state” dance with them, which includes my having to do all my work for the last couple of days without any of the tools I’d accumulated to help me!

Now I’m faced with having to go back to using my old PC for the foreseeable future! Thanks goodness I’m a pack rat who never throws anything away!
