Kill Java Now
Java Is No Longer Needed
What Security Experts Advise
‘Security experts are hard pressed to say what Java does for most people. While some online games and business applications need a Java plug-in to run, nearly all modern sites, including Facebook and Twitter, use JavaScript, XML and HTML 5, which run natively in the browser. Therefore, people could happily surf the Web for years without ever running Java.
‘Those who are using a Java application, should run it in a dedicated browser that’s used for nothing else, Patrik Runald, director of security research at Websense, says. Another browser should be used for daily Web surfing. “I’ve run a browser with Java disabled for years,” he said…’ read more
Why You Should Start Using a VPN
How to Choose the Best One for Your Needs
‘You may know what a VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is; you probably don’t use one. You really should be using a VPN, and even if you don’t think so now, at some point in the future you may consider it as important as your internet connection.
‘When we took at look at your five favorite VPN service providers, we noticed a few things. First, being the “best” is big business for VPN providers, and they’ll fight dirty to be one of them. Second, there are so many VPN providers that it’s difficult to choose a really good one. VPNs are not all created equally, and in this post, we’re going to look at what a VPN is, why you want one, and how to pick the best one for you. Let’s get started…’

That’s great Java-proofing Dood. Me, I totally uninstalled Java expecting my few games to be affected. Fortunately not happened.
My kids still have to use Java to play their Mine Craft game. Fortunately, I get around the problem by restoring their systems from backups every few days. Something goes wrong? instant restore. So far, this has worked great! Of course, they lose all their crap, but I don’t really care about that right now. Eventually, it may come down to a choice between using their computers for schoolwork, or playing Mine Craft. But I’ll cross that road when I come to it.
