If what Binney claims is true, then UK’s proposed law to monitor the calls, emails, texts, and website visits of everyone in the UK is late and nothing new
‘National Security Agency whistleblower William Binney reveals he believes domestic surveillance has become more expansive under President Obama than President George W. Bush. He estimates the NSA has assembled 20 trillion “transactions” — phone calls, emails and other forms of data — from Americans. This likely includes copies of almost all of the emails sent and received from most people living in the United States. Binney talks about Section 215 of the USA PATRIOT Act and challenges NSA Director Keith Alexander’s assertion that the NSA is not intercepting information about U.S. citizens. This interview is part of a 4-part special. Click here to see segment 1, 2, and 4. [includes rush transcript]…’

@Noel
David and I disagree too on OWS. I just respect his opinion and I’m glad you both allow freedom of opinions too. Thank you pals!

Exactly Noel!
David and I had misunderstandings too and he seems arrogant sometimes but I’m so glad I tried to keep him as a blogging friend. He’s been a loyal supporter for 3 years!

I sense he is a reasonable guy except that he is a fierce debater.

I am the fiercer debater not him Noel lol. The thing is, we are both frank and straightforward hence the reason for our early ‘clashes’. But as you said, we’re both reasonable guys too so friendship prevailed, not personality issues.

No surprise here! I would rather they do that than suffer another devastating attack.

You’re probably right Noel. Thanks for your comment.

I completely disagree. The enemies of the US win when its citizens compromise their freedoms and values to create the illusion of safety. If our enemy is terror, and we are cowering before it, then who is really winning?

He who feels it, knows it. I am sure if you were affected by the tragic events of the famous 911, you would not talk like this.
It is amazing how we love to talk about freedom of this and freedom of that. Don’t You are not as free as you think? It is all an illusion. Ask the OWS protesters.

Noel, I’m from New York. I wasn’t sure if my father was in the World Trade Center on 9-11. I knew people who were missing for days; first responders who were on-site; and people who lost loved ones.
And you’re right, we’re not as free as we think; a fact I’m acutely aware of. As a result, I’m very resistent to surrendering more freedoms. The answer to “we’re not as free as we think we are,” is not, and should never be to allow more oppression.
