Poet-musician Gil Scott-Heron emerged as a major alternative artist in the 1970s and 80s.

I don’t think anyone who watches this will say that he was anything less than a prophet. He passed away in 2011. Here’s a video of one of his performances in 1990.

It seems as good a thing to play on Independence Day as anything else.
