Corrupted Call Centers

Workers sell your private information for just pennies
If they could do that, how could we ever trust online transactions!?

‘According to the Daily Mail an undercover investigation in India has uncovered that some call center workers have been selling confidential information on nearly 500,000 Britons.

‘Undercover reporters from The Sunday Times met with two individuals who claimed to be IT workers who offered to provide them with 45 different types of data gathered from the victims.

‘Information offered up included names, addresses, phone numbers and credit card details (including CCV/CVV codes and expiration dates)…’

The Intel Infographic Generator
Create an infographic that’s all about you
‘Intel, which has catered to Facebook and Twitter users’ inherent narcissism before, is giving you a new tool for digital navel-gazing: an infographic that’s all about you.

‘The chipmaker’s new “What About Me?” app culls info from your Facebook, Twitter and YouTube profiles to crank out a data visualization of your composite social media profile…’

Weirdest Pins on Pinterest [Pics]
‘According to Tyler, the posts that get pinned the most are the silly posters she’s made herself that poke fun at Pinterest users. One, for example, is “Pinebriated: When you can’t remember if you’ve already pinned that.”

‘As far as the weirdness goes, Tyler says “you have to take what you see with a grain of salt — but people re-pin the craziest things as truth, and don’t seem to feel the need to investigate and discover if the pins are even based in fact.”

‘We’ve round up ten of the weirdest pins we could find from WTF Pinterest…’

Robots at your service
Quadcopters Fast Food Delivery
‘Specific details of exactly how this system works have not been released. I assume the TacoCopter has an on-board GPS system that allows it to get regular updates as to your phone’s location. It then travels to the last known point where hopefully you are waiting to collect the taco.

‘At the moment TacoCopter is (suspiciously) only available through a private beta serving the San Francisco Bay Area. Even so, I think there’s a few hurdles the service needs to overcome if it is going to work with any degree of reliability and success…’

Hipmunk
A remarkable new travel search site that aims to take the agony out of travel planning. We designed our site to help people who are overwhelmed with pages of irrelevant search results. Flight results are presented in a visual “timeline” that allows people to select the best flight for them at a glance. Hotel results are shown on a map so that people can view where in a destination they will be staying and the landmarks near them.

At Hipmunk, we want to make your experience a lot better and put the fun back into travel planning.

And you just warmed my heart dear Amy thank you.
One more advantage of being a former street man:
A very prolific Australian boy wannabe crime fic writer asked me how he could improve as a crime writer. I told him to live on mean streets but warned him that it could cost his life. I was relieved he gratefully refused my advice.

Humans can be counted on to think of new ways to make money. I thought street people were ingenious in dreaming up survival techniques.

If we could transform that energy into serving instead of victimizing! Wait…we can! 😀 Starting with each one of us.

Love the Hipmunk concept. I have to test it more to grasp more of its capability but so far I’m impressed.

Street people are in fact savvy in generating ways to hustle money Amy. I was a street man for many years and grew up with many of them. What is surprising here is the greed of ‘civilized’ citizens that appears everywhere!

Oh…you just wormed your way further into my heart, Poch! I so glad you were able to get yourself off the streets, but the irony is just exactly what you say…civilization is not all that civil.

I know there is honour amongst street people. There’s a culture that needs to be respected for survival’s sake. Someone I dearly love was a pickpocket in Fiji as a young man…he ended up becoming a prison guard! He did a great job because he had compassion for the prisoners.

He’s now a “civilized” man and says exactly what you commented about civilized citizens.

I hope the Internet is our friend in this area, too – in exposure and fact.
